The Educational Sub-Committee of Arkansas Can Do developed a training on disability awareness and etiquette, which has been presented at national, state and local conferences. This training is available and appropriate for media, school, business, and volunteer settings as well as the general public. The program was designed to discuss facts and dispel myths surrounding disability, examine our perceptions of people with disabilities, and show examples of communication using “people-first” language. Disability etiquette is provided through participant discussions of real-life scenarios.
